Brett Favre is a Hall of Fame Quarterback but he hasn’t been in the news recently for football-related reasons. Favre has been “alleged” to have been a key figure in the Mississippi welfare fraud where funds released by the federal government had been misappropriated and distributed. Favre, former Mississippi governor Phil Bryant, and others were involved.

The figure involved is in millions despite all of this it still remains one of the most under-reported stories across all platforms and considering the people involved, many major media outlets and other people related to the NFL seem to be hesitant to report on the story which seems strange considering other such matters have been extensively covered by the media and the athlete or personality involved have been heavily panned. Deshaun Watson the now Cleveland Brown QB is a recent such example but why not so this time? Stephen A Smith believes the matter is much bigger than it seems on the surface.

He continued-“This is bad………You got an additional 5 million dollars that was thrown into the University[University of Southern Mississippi] and his daughter was a member of the volleyball team so there’s some nepotism going on there.”

“It’s been talked about by the Washington Post its been talked about by numerous news organizations throughout this country. He’s in the throws of all of this and none of us have said a word. If that was a black man that was a former star in the NFL with the relationships and cachet that Brett Favre has, what would have been done to him?”

He later went on to specifically pointed out the people with strong connections with the NFL are conspicuously silent.

What Stephen A was referring to is an issue the world might want to take seriously as despite all the talk and initiatives there seems to be a disparity when the world talks about such matters when involving a person of color and a white person wherein lies most of the social issues plaguing this country. Leading figures have a lot to answer for on this front.
