The start to a new decade has been more than tough for the entirety of the world. As the year progressed, so did the rise of Covid-19 cases. Further, the tennis season came to a halt in March. This was followed by a six-month long break which a myriad of players used for self-reflection and to better themselves. One of these tennis aces is the World No.6, Stefanos Tsitsipas

As far as the season goes, Tsitsipas recorded a win-loss record of 29-14. Further, he advanced to the semi-final of the French Open for the first time in his career. In addition, Stef also made it to the final showdown of the German Open. Herein, he lost out against Andrey Rublev 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.

Stef shares what the tumultuous year has taught him

The Greek champ shared the most important lesson he learnt in this period of forced isolation. Considering the worsening of the health of the majority and the horrid situation worldwide, Tsitsipas expressed of his desire to be a more compassionate individual henceforth.

“If there is one thing that this pandemic taught me is to focus on other people and provide compassion,” he wrote on Twitter

The 22-year-old finished the season after losing two of his three battles at the Nitto ATP Finals. Stefanos failed to defend his title win, but ultimately, as he put it, has succeeded to learn lessons which mean a great deal more to him. 

Tsitsipas will be back on court at the Australian Open 2021
