Iga Swaitek will no longer be working with her coach Tomasz Wiktorowski. She took to her social media accounts to announce her split with the 43-year-old Polish coach.
Wiktorowski had been guiding Swiatek since 2022 after the World No.1 parted ways with Piotr Sierzputowski in December 2021. Sierzputowski had been part of her team since she was 15. Now that she will no longer be working with Wiktorowski, Swiatek said she will give herself two weeks to “start cooperation” with a new coach. She also revealed that she is in the middle of first talks with coaches who are non-Polish.
Swiatek thanked Wiktorowski for the tournaments she won under his guidance, including her four Grand Slam titles. Under him, the 23-year-old also became a World No. 1 for the first time.

Iga Swiatek skipped the China Open
Though Iga Swiatek has been complaining about not getting enough time to rest and recover due to a hectic schedule, many tennis fans were shocked after she decided not to participate in the China Open where she is the defending champion. Last year, she defeated Liudmila Samsonova in the final to lift the title.
After she announced her split from Tomasz Wiktorowski, fans on social media started guessing that this might have been the reason behind her skipping the penultimate WTA 1000 event in Beijing. Swiatek is also on the brink of losing her top spot in the WTA rankings if Aryna Sabalenka emerges as the champion. The Belarusian, who is the top seed in Beijing after Swiatek’s withdrawal, won the US Open and the Cincinnati Masters prior to her arrival in Beijing.
Siwatek is 54/7 this season and has won five titles on the WTA Tour as well as the singles bronze medal at the Paris Olympics. Overall, the Pole lifted 22 titles since turning pro in 2016. She was last seen in action at the US Open, where she made a quarterfinal exit after defeat to eventual runner-up Jessica Pegula.
