Iga Swiatek expressed her relief at securing her position at the WTA Finals because of the dynamic first half of the year. The WTA Finals is a year-end tournament where the top eight players of the season compete for the crown.

Swiatek has confirmed her position in the event very early in the year. She had a bad start at the Australian Open but soon found her form. She continued to do well during the clay swing, winning three tournaments on the bounce, including the French Open, to confirm her sport at the WTA Finals.

In a recent interview, Swiatek stated that she was delighted to have secured her place early after what had happened in 2021. Three years ago, the Pole had to fight for points till the very end of the season to confirm her place in the tournament, where she couldn’t reach the semifinals.

It’s nice to know your place is secured. In 2021, we were waiting till the last week if I was going to be in so it was pretty stressful. Now I feel like I was consistent enough to qualify already so for sure it is a nice place to be.

With her place secured, the Pole can now look forward to defending the title she won last year when she went all the way without dropping a single set.

All eyes on Iga Swiatek as she aims to return from a chaotic couple of tournaments

After a brilliant start to the season, Iga Swiatek has found herself in the weeds. As usual, she failed to impress on grass but shocked everyone when she was outplayed at the Paris Olympics on the clay court.

She lost to Qinwen Zheng in straight sets in the semifinals and couldn’t win gold for her country. However, she did settle for bronze in the end. With a bit of a break, Swiatek is ready to take on the hard courts again and will be in action at the Cincinnati Open this week.

As the top seed there, all eyes will be on the Pole and her form at the Masters 1000 event. Although Swiatek does not have a lot of expectations at this tournament, she will be hoping to do her best and get some momentum before heading to the US Open.
