Iga Swiatek is playing in the ongoing Indian Wells Open where she’s bidding to win her third title. She stormed into the fourth round after a comprehensive 6-0, 6-2 win over Dayana Yastremska.
Before the Ukrainian ace, Swiatek registered a 6-2, 6-0 win over Caroline Garcia. During her campaign at Indian Wells Tennis Garden, Swiatek was asked to name a player who is usually late to practice.
Me. I’m usually late everywhere, which is not a good thing to say, but that’s the truth, let’s be honest.
Iga Swiatek said in a video shared by WTA
Swiatek then narrated what happened when she went to see Andy Murray‘s training. The three-time Grand Slam champion called time on his career at the 2024 Paris Olympics following which, he joined longtime rival Novak Djokovic‘s entourage.
I would say Andy Murray. I mean he’s retired now, but once I went to see his practice and he was late 10 minutes. But I don’t judge, you know…he’s a boss, he’s a legend, he can do whatever he wants.

Iga Swiatek makes feelings clear on Indian Wells surface
The surface at this year’s Indian Wells has become a topic of discussion as several players, including Daniil Medvedev, criticized the change. Indian Wells has slower courts than other hard-court tournaments, but this season, Laykold replaced the Plexipave courts.

Some players found it fast, while others were not of the same opinion as they rather feel it’s slower than before. Iga Swiatek, however, hasn’t yet noticed much difference.
Here it’s pretty similar, I would say the lines are quicker, so when the ball hits the line it’s pretty crazy, but besides that, it’s still a slow court with a high bounce. So I wouldn’t say there’s a lot of difference. But maybe I’m just…I don’t know, stupid, tennis wise. So maybe, other players feel it better. I don’t know.

The World No.2 is scheduled to lock horns with Karolina Muchova on Tuesday (March 11) in the fourth round. Muchova knocked out Katerina Siniakova to set up the fourth-round clash with the former World No.1.
Swiatek has faced Muchova four times on the WTA Tour and leads 3-1 in their head-to-head meetings. In their last meeting in the 2025 United Cup, Swiatek registered a straight-set win. While Muchova is an Indian Wells quarterfinalist, Swiatek beat Maria Sakkari to win the title in the California desert in 2022 and 2024.
