Iga Swiatek had fun with Aryna Sabalenka while filming a TikTok video ahead of the WTA Finals. In spite of the cut-throat competition on the court, both Swiatek and Sabalenka respect each other.

While practicing with Sabalenka, Swiatek wanted to use the opportunity not just to bond with the Belarusian but also to learn how to do proper TikTok. Swiatek doesn’t use the app much, but Sabalenka is very active on the platform, and it was Sabalenka who made the Pole film the video.

Well yeah, she kind of made me do it. Obviously, you know me. I am not the kind of person that goes on TikTok a lot but it was really fun to do something else. And I can learn from her actually how to do proper TikTok. So I wanted to use this experience, use this opportunity. Also, I am happy that we could show the fans that we are getting along you know. We really respect each other.

I think it works both ways. I think we mutually have this situationโ€ฆshe was kind of chasing me. So you know, for sure she must have felt a bit more. I also appreciate having such a good player chasing me. Now she’s number one, so I am gonna try to chase her.

As Swiatek is yet to play her first match since her quarterfinal exit from the US Open, she dropped points after missing mandatory WTA tournaments. Sabalenka’s titles at the Cincinnati Masters, US Open, and Wuhan Open, took her to the No. 1 position.

Sabalenka has met Swiatek 12 times but could win just four matches. They last faced each other in the semifinals of the Cincinnati Masters, which Sabalenka won following her back-to-back defeats at the Madrid Open and Rome Open this year to the five-time Grand Slam champion.
