A few months ago, Iga Swiatek made changes to her coaching team, splitting with Tomasz Wiktorowski and partnering with Wim Fissette. Amid her doping controversy, the Polish star is still focused on shaking up her team ahead of the 2025 season.
Swiatek has now hired a new public relations manager after parting ways with Paula Wolecka. Last week, the World No. 2 found herself in hot water after the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) announced that she had accepted a one-month suspension.
This came after the body conducted a drug test that found her positive for trimetazidine in August. She was initially suspended for three weeks after the US Open.
Within that period, Swiatek missed the entirety of the Asian swing but also made changes in her coaching team. She parted ways with long-term coach Wiktorowski and brought in Naomi Osaka’s ex-coach Wim Fissette.
In the aftermath of the doping case, she has decided to replace Paula Wolecka with Daria Sulgostowska as her new public relations manager. Wolecka was part of Swiatek’s team for four years and was responsible for managing her media interactions and social activities.
Sulgostowska is a tennis coach and member of the Polish Tennis Association. She has represented international and multinational corporations and is also a member of the Gender Equality Tennis Europe Committee. Her first challenge will be turning around the already negative reaction to Swiatek’s doping saga.
Wim Fissette reveals Iga Swiatek’s most difficult competition on tour
Iga Swiatek played her best tennis in the first half of the 2024 season, winning five titles. The clay court was her most successful surface, as she won three WTA 1000 titles and the French Open. However, she has also been impressive on hard courts and has one more career title on the surface than any other.
In a recent interview, Wim Fissette revealed that grass tournaments will be Swiatek’s most difficult competitions, especially the 2025 Wimbledon championship.
Wimbledon has been Swiatek’s most challenging Grand Slam event. She has yet to reach the semifinals and her best showing at the event was reaching the quarterfinals in 2023. She holds an 11-5 win-loss record at Wimbledon and is yet to win a title on grass.
