Amidst beef between prominent rappers Kendrick Lamar and Drake, tennis stars have taken time to pick their sides last week, as the feud saw some harsh things being said about one of the best tennis players ever.
In one of his songs from a 2022 album, Drake had some lyrics that insulted Serena Williams by name. Kendrick Lamar stepped up and called it out in a Drake diss track of his own. Following these events, multiple tennis players were asked which one of the two rappers they prefer, including Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka.
Now, Iga Swiatek was also requested to put forth her opinion about this and she responded candidly. The World No. 1 is not a huge listener of rap music and accepted that her opinion on the matter would be void as she doesn’t know much about it.
That’s a tough one because I’m not an expert in this kind of music. Don’t take this.. you know.. because I’m not an expert.Iga Swiatek said via Tennis Channel
However, her answer seems to imply that if she did have to pick, it would probably be Kendrick Lamar as she wonders if he has better lyrics. A fan of lyrics over music, Swiatek would rather pick Kendrick for this reason and said that is why she is also a Swiftie.
Kendrick sometimes has more complicated lyrics and everything. I’m more of a lyric kind of a girl. That’s why I like Taylor Swift. I’m gonna go this way.

Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka weigh in on the Lamar-Drake feud
“Drake or Lamar” has now become a standard question for players on the WTA side, as their pioneer, Williams, was attacked by Drake in a song.
Many players have already made their opinion public and the decision unanimously seems to be in favor of Lamar so far. Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka both picked him over Drake and Gauff backed this by saying her decision may have been swayed by the Williams issue.
Osaka started off saying she’s a neutral party but followed it up by saying ‘’Kendrick dropped some heat that last song,” indicating which side she is leaning towards. Williams’ diss is surely hampering Drake’s case in the tennis fraternity. And if the trend is any sign, the Canadian rapper will need some heavy lifting if he wishes to please the tennis side of his audience. Maybe a good word about Williams’ game in between the lyrics can be that start.
