The Mutua Madrid Open had a great end to the women’s side of the draw. WTA No.1 Iga Swiatek was up against the defending champion Aryna Sabalenka for the title. It was a hell of a match between the two top stars, which also recorded one of the longest WTA 1000 Finals.

In an intense match, Sabalenka pushed the Pole to her limits, but ultimately, the Pole clinched her first title here. This showdown topped their previous encounters.

Swiatek had nothing but praise for Sabalenka, who was close to securing her second consecutive Madrid title. The Pole commended Sabalenka for her impressive performance and delivered an excellent post-match speech.

Polish ace Iga Swiatek was on a roll at the Madrid Open as she recorded a huge win against Aryna Sabalenka at the Mutua Madrid Open. This was one tournament where the Pole had never won, and she hoped for some change in fortunes.

She played an intense three-hour 11-minute game of tennis, saving three championship points, before beating the Belarusian for her first title on clay this season. After the win, the 22-year-old Pole had heartwarming words to thank her coaches. 

Thank you for sticking with me through the ups and downs. For understanding and motivating me.. because without you I wouldn’t be here… I hope we’re gonna continue progressing. That’s the most important thing at the end. I want to thank my family who’s watching

Right after the win, the Pole, in tears, ran up to embrace her team. It was her 20th overall singles title. She has already won three titles this season and is predicted to win even more as the season continues.
