Last year’s French Open runner-up Karolina Muchova will be back on court after missing 10 months of tennis due to her wrist injury. World No.1 Iga Swiatek, who beat Muchova in the French Open final in three sets 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, reacted to a video of Muchova announcing her return on X.
Muchova was the only player who pushed the Pole to the third set in her four Roland Garros finals. Swiatek, who won her third consecutive and overall fifth Grand Slam title at this year’s Roland Garros by beating Italy’s Jasmine Paolini, wrote “Good to have you back!” on Muchova’s comment section.

The 27-year-old’s comeback match will be next week’s Eastbourne International. The tournament will help her build fitness for this season’s third Grand Slam event and the Paris Olympics, both of which will get underway next month.
At the end of this week, I’ll fly to Eastbourne with the team where we’ll finally try to play some matches in preparation ahead of Wimbledon. After Wimbledon, I’ll return to the clay, maybe play a tournament, or straight to the Olympics.Karolina Muchova told CANAL+ Sport CZ
If everything works out well for the Czech player, then she will make her Olympic debut. She will be playing singles and doubles along with Marketa Vondrousova, who won last year’s Wimbledon by beating Ons Jabeur in the final. Wimbledon will be played from July 1 to July 14, while the Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
Karolina Muchova underwent surgery in February this year
After suffering the wrist injury, Karolina Muchova missed the start of 2024 and then underwent surgery in February. The surgery fixed a loose tendon in her wrist and she had to wear the splint for a few weeks before she started her rehabilitation and training, which left her with no time to spare. But the months of hard work finally paid off.
I didn’t have that much free time because the rehabilitation process takes up much more time than you think, compared to when I train and travel to tournaments.Karolina Muchova said
The World No. 34 had a memorable season last year, having reached the Roland Garros final and the US Open semifinal, where she suffered the injury to her wrist. It also forced her to withdraw from the WTA Finals in Mexico, where she qualified for the first time.
