World No. 1 Iga Swiatek is a tennis champion for the ages. Fresh off her third consecutive French Open title, the Polish superstar is hungry for more wins and titles in her career.
However, Swiatek’s greatest quality is her ability to stay grounded and remember her roots. Recently, she shared a Visa advertisement showcasing her incredible tennis journey from a young age.
From early mornings spent hitting balls in Warsaw, to my first Grand Slam win… Each moment, every step, rally, serve, and swing has brought me closer to my goals and dreams. And the journey continues, because success isn’t a destination, but a journey of perpetual small steps #Visa helps me achieve. Thank you for this amazing campaign that tells my story and stories of other prodigies in such an inspirational way.Iga Swiatek wrote in the caption of her Instagram post
Swiatek turned pro in 2016 and has won 22 singles titles throughout her career, including five Grand Slam events, with her first coming at Roland Garros in 2020.
Apart from her four Roland Garros titles, the Pole also clinched the US Open in 2022. However, statistically, grass appears to be her weakest surface. Swiatek aims to change her fortunes on the grass with a career-defining performance at the All-England Club next month.
Iga Swiatek tipped to win Wimbledon
World No. 1 Iga Swiatek secured her fifth Grand Slam title with her recent victory at the French Open, marking her third consecutive win at Roland Garros and her fourth overall. Despite her accomplishments, the Pole is yet to win at Wimbledon. Former World No. 4 Johanna Konta, however, believes that it is only a matter of time before the World No.1 triumphs at the prestigious tournament.
I think she’ll be looking to take it one match at a time as she does every tournament she plays. I believe it is only a matter of time – she will win Wimbledon eventually. If it’s not this year, it might be next year, if not it might by the following year.Johanna Konta said while speaking at a ‘Pickleball Slam’ event in London
In 2024, Swiatek has already claimed five titles, leading the WTA Rankings and the WTA Race to Riyadh by a significant margin. However, dominating on grass has been a challenge for her.
Swiatek has reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon only once and has opted out of playing any grass-court events prior to the tournament this year, including withdrawing from the Berlin Open. Aside from her recent French Open victory, her other titles this season have been at the WTA 1000 level, underscoring her dominance.
