Social media has become a daily habit not just for the average person but also for professional athletes. Some athletes are more active on social media than others, while some choose to ignore it altogether. In the case of Iga Swiatek, she receives a lot of mixed responses daily based on her tennis achievements.
Although World No. 1 receives many positive replies due to her dominance on the court, Swiatek also faces negative comments based on a few of her opinions. However, the 23-year-old takes it all in stride.
Unfortunately, many people do not realize what the life of an athlete looks like. There is no point in clinging to such opinions, although in my opinion, it is still worth knowing what others think of you. Unfortunately, people like to jump to conclusions.Iga Swiatek said in an interview with WP SportoweFakty
Swiatek and Coco Gauff are two notable WTA players who receive significant negative attention on multiple social media platforms. The Polish player tends to minimize her social media presence, except for a few promotional endorsements.
I don't want to answer or explain, because I realize that a lot of people support me and I wouldn't be able to explain everything. I simply accept that such things are a part of my life. Very often, I receive very positive messages. This was the case right after the defeat in the semi-final in Paris, when the messages of support from fans and friends, and even from other athletes, helped me a lot.Iga Swiatek added
On the other hand, Gauff has faced substantial backlash, particularly related to events at the Paris Olympics. Many fans labeled her the ‘new Serena’ due to her outburst at the chair umpire during her defeat in the Olympic Games.
Iga Swiatek gives her take on Cincinnati preparations
Iga Swiatek is often the favorite in the tournaments she enters, but the World No. 1 is being cautious as she prepares for her first hard-court match since March.

We’re taking it easy, doing everything step by step. For sure, it’s not going to be perfect from the beginning but I had a couple days to really get used to the surface, so I’m trying to do the best job possible every day and entering the court next day knowing I can do something better.Iga Swiatek said
The last time Swiatek competed on hard courts was at the Miami Open, where she was defeated by Ekaterina Alexandrova in the fourth round. As she heads to Cincinnati, the 23-year-old is getting ready for even faster conditions, especially with the return of the Regular Duty Wilson tennis balls.
Swiatek chose not to participate in the National Bank Open in Toronto, the first event of the US Open series. She mentioned that she needed rest after playing in the Paris Olympic Games, where she bounced back from a surprising semifinal loss to win the bronze medal.
Throughout her career, Swiatek has claimed five Grand Slam titles, with four of them at Roland Garros. Her only Grand Slam victory outside of Paris came at the US Open in 2022. She will aim for a second title in New York later this month.
