- Jake Paul referred to Ilia Topuria as a "little toy" in a recent interview, suggesting a boxing match would be an easy fight for him.
- Paul criticized Topuria's height, claiming it would make the matchup less competitive.
- He also accused Paddy Pimblett of turning down a million-dollar offer for a sparring match after previously expressing interest.
Few forces in the realm of combat sports have been as disruptive as Jake Paul. The former Disney star has made quite some noise in the world of boxing, taking on veterans from MMA, boxing, and even the NBA. Now, Paul has once again stirred the pot with his recent comments about UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria.
Jake Paul has made a career out of going against MMA fighters in the boxing ring. So far, he hasn’t lost to any of them yet, with wins over Tyron Woodley, Ben Askren, Mike Perry, and most impressively, Anderson Silva. It seems his latest target is ‘El Matador’ and Paul did not hold back in trashing the Spaniard.
Jake Paul recently appeared in an interview with Complex News. In it, he discussed the prospect of fighting Ilia Topuria in a boxing match. While doing so, the ‘Problem Child’ went on to make some scathing remarks about the UFC double champion and his height.
I have respect for him, but in a boxing match, that’s like honestly a warmup for me…It would be like, like playing with a little toy, like I’m not even kidding. Also, he’s like 5’5″. It’s like if we were the same weight, he’s a good striker, same height. It would probably be closer. I would still beat him, but he’s like, he can’t even ride roller coasters. You know, like the guy’s tiny.

Jake Paul pointed to his fight against Anderson Silva as an example of what happens when he goes up against an elite MMA striker. However, many fans naturally used the ‘Spider’ being nearly 50 years old when that match happened as a criticism of Paul.
Paul blamed the fighters for nothing coming to fruition despite them agreeing to fight him on social media and livestreams. This was clearly a reference to Adin Ross and Topuria’s livestream, where Paul called Ross and offered to fly out the Spaniard for a sparring match.
However, Ilia Topuria wasn’t the only one Jake Paul went after during his appearance on Complex News. He also went after a longtime rival of the UFC’s lightweight champion.
Jake Paul claims Paddy Pimblett and Ilia Topuria turned down similar offers from him
Jake Paul extended his aforementioned accusations against Ilia Topuria to encompass Paddy Pimblett as well. For the uninitiated, Jake Paul and Paddy Pimblett have feuded for a while now. It all began after Pimblett claimed Paul’s fights were fixed, which elicited a brutal response from the American.

Paul then challenged the Scouser to a sparring match, which left him and Daniel Cormier baffled back then as they pondered how a winner would be determined. But earlier this year, Pimblett said he would be open to boxing Jake Paul for the right payday. Now, Paul has revealed what transpired after those comments.
I tried to send a jet to Paddy Pimblett. I was going to give him a million dollars, and then it’s just radio silence.

Paul’s comments suggest Paddy Pimblett reneged on his comments from earlier this year. But amid losing to Justin Gaethje for the interim belt and preparing for his comeback later this year, Pimblett has had a lot on his plate. So, it doesn’t seem like a crossover with Jake Paul is on the cards anytime soon.
The Problem Child has always had a complicated relationship with UFC fighters. He broke into the world of combat sports with their help, yet seems to always be at odds with them. But with so many seeds sown already, it will be very interesting to see if anything ever comes to fruition, whether it be in a cage or the squared circle.
