Further, he levelled up with Pete Sampras when he set his name as the year-end top-ranked player for a record sixth time. With a myriad of historic moments he’s already earned, the 33-year-old is often bombarded with the question of ‘retirement.’

Many would believe that Novak has already achieved more than one can in any sport. However, he’s declared that he’s not even close to calling it quits on the court professionally.

Age is often regarded as a barrier in any sport. In contrast, players like Roger Federer have pushed that boundary and broken through the ceiling even in their late 30’s. Likewise, Djokovic stated that age “wasn’t an issue” for him in his goals set for Grand Slam titles.

After that, he added that he will be “more strategic from next season with creating his calendar” and taking notice of which tournaments he wants to peak in. “But as long as the desire is there, I’m healthy and have the support of my family, I’ll keep on playing,” said Novak.

In addition, Djokovic revealed that he didn’t see partaking in tennis as “an obligation.” Instead, it is the desire “to compete at the highest level” that continues to drive him.

Nole concluded by sending a warning to his rivals. He said, “I’ll be here a long time. I don’t want to put an expiry date on me yet!”
