“I’ll go up to 170 to fight Nate,” suggests Dustin Poirier on the Joe Rogan Podcast that he is willing to fight Nate Diaz

Dustin Poirier is currently on cloud nine after his huge win against former two-division champ Conor McGregor. The Diamond beat the Irishman via Knockout in the second round at UFC 257 main event. After that everything is looking uphill for the fighter from Louisiana.
There were strong rumors that there is going to be a Dustin-Conor Trilogy which did excite the fans and viewers. But Dustin Poirier threw water to that flame as he suggested he would want to fight Nate Diaz eventually. Dustin Poirier was at the Joe Rogan Podcast where he told Joe he might move up a division to fight the striker from Stockton. “Before I’m done fighting, I’ll go up to 170,” Poirier said. “Yeah, I’ll go up to 170 to fight Nate.”
The Diamond and Nate were previously scheduled to go against each other at UFC 230 which unfortunately had to be canceled. Poirier had to back out from the bout due to a hip injury. They couldn’t reschedule the fight due to some “Crazy” negotiations put forth by Nate Diaz.
Poirier has never been in a better position in his MMA career. The fighter could do as he wishes. If Khabib Nurmagomedov is stripped from the title, Poirier is the first man to contend for the belt. Dustin could also seek the Conor trilogy fight which might not necessarily lead to a title but could turnover huge numbers in PPV.
“Nate was playing games with the UFC,” says Dustin about Nate Diaz

Many fans wondered why the fight between Nate and Dustin never got rescheduled given Poirier was done with the injury. Dustin explained to Joe Rogan why he could never fight Diaz. “Me and him were supposed to fight at Madison Square Garden,” Poirier said. “I kind of was the fall guy—He gets to point and say I pulled out of the fight and I did. I went to get stem cells done on my hip.”
“But I was going to fight, I was going to go through a camp and fight him if they wouldn’t have started offering me other replacement opponents, Nate was playing games with the UFC, UFC started offering me opponents and I said, ‘Look guys, if this is happening, I’m just going to have my hip taken care of.’ He’s a guy I’ve always wanted to fight,” Dustin told Joe.
Do you guys think Dustin should go ahead and fight the veteran, Nate Diaz?
