‘I’m aiming to take him out inside four rounds’ – Tyson Fury on his possible fight against Anthony Joshua; urges AJ to sign the contract soon
The much awaited Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev, saw the favourite, AJ taking the W, with a dominant performance over Kubrat Pulev. Joshua stopped Kubrat with a brutal knockdown in the ninth round, giving him his 24th victory in his professional boxing career. In the immediate aftermath, questions began surfacing, as it was all but confirmed that the All-Brit encounter (AJ vs Fury) was due next.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Tyson Fury urged Anthony Joshua to sign the contract soon, adding that he will take AJ out inside four rounds.
“I’ve been willing to take the fight for the last five years.” – Tyson Fury
Tyson Fury was quoted as saying, “Grow a pair and sign the contract, big boy. I’ve always said for a long time that I do believe that Anthony Joshua is tailor-made for someone like my style. I think it’s going to be one of the most explosive, quickest fights you are going to see. I’m aiming to take him out inside four rounds. We’ll see what’s going to go on. Let’s hope this fight happens. I’m willing to take the fight. I don’t know whether they are. I’ve been willing to take the fight for the last five years.”
Warning AJ, Tyson said, “It was but no disrespect to Pulev – he is 39 years old and he has not had a competitive fight since 2014. He has not been boxing regularly against high profile opposition. At 40 years old, he is ready for his slippers anyway. It is easier said than done. When I was fighting Wilder I had lost 10 stone in eight months. After three years inactivity. Yes, he shook me in round 12. But a few months later it was just a mismatch. Wilder did not win any second of the rematch. That is the Fury that Joshua will have to face.”
He concluded saying, “It’s not happened so far, but I’m very optimistic it will happen in 2021.”
Well, The Gypsy King has had his say. Now it’s up to the promoters to make this happen as soon as possible. What are your thoughts on this? Should Joshua accept Fury’s offer? Or should he fight someone else like Usyk?
