Looks like combat sports legend Henry Cejudo is not enjoying retirement considering the amount of moderation in competition over the past two years and someone has said it right once- there are levels to this game. Cejudo, the former UFC two-division champion, retired from the sport of MMA in April 2020 after becoming the first person to knock out former WEC-UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz.

Cejudo, also the Olympic champion, has been living the post-retirement life by coaching the current and the future fighters of MMA, this includes the names UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo, former women’s strawweight champion Zhang Weili, and former light-heavyweight great Jon Jones. Cejudo is also giving time to podcasts such as being the co-host of Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson alongside boxing legend Mike Tyson and co-host of Triple C & Schmo Show alongside sports journalist Dave Schmulenson aka The Schmo.

Cejudo just tweeted after UFC 273 that happened last night. He basically wrote, “I’m getting back in the pool!” indicating that he might get back to drug testing under the US-Anti Doping Agency as all active athletes are in order to compete in the highest of levels such as in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Cejudo was a former flyweight and bantamweight champion, while his pupil Deiveson Figueiredo is the sitting flyweight champion, Cejudo has expressed his interest in fighting at bantamweight and featherweight, more in the latter division where he has a chance to become the first person to have captured UFC belts in 3 different weight classes. The current UFC featherweight and bantamweight champions, Alexander Volkanovski and Aljamain Sterling have both reciprocated with Cejudo’s interests to fight for their titles and are therefore open for that fight in case it plays out.

What do you make of Henry Cejudo announcing return to the drug testing pool? Do you think Cejudo is returning for sure? Who do you want Cejudo to fight against? Cejudo is definitely one of the all time greats when it comes to covering combat sports, achieving the highest of honours in both freestyle wrestling and mixed martial arts, and now he is passing on the knowledge without any hesitation to those coming to him for it. That is a pioneer in the making for sure.
