‘I’m gonna act like an idiot passing the whole window’ – Max Holloway recalls skateboarding past Conor McGregor while he was being interviewed
Max Holloway grabbed headlines as he put on a masterclass against Calvin Kattar in UFC’s first main event of 2021 (16th of January,2020). It was one of the most one-sided unanimous decision victories one would ever see. He then stayed on, at the Fight Island, since he was the backup fighter for the UFC 257 main event – Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier. Doing so, he once again grabbed eyeballs, as he turned up outside the place where Conor was being interviewed, in a SKATEBOARD!
Speaking about this in an interview with Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie (she had interview Conor, on that particular day as well), Max Holloway revealed that he knew it was the place of the interview but didn’t know who was present. Since he wanted to grab the attention of the person being interviewed, although he didn’t know it was Conor, he claimed that he did ‘some stupid stuff’, while passing through.
‘We were with the boys, with the team, and I was on my skateboard‘
Farah Hannoun who had then interviewed Conor, that day, tweeted, “Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) spots Max Holloway (@BlessedMMA) skateboarding outsideduring our interview#UFC257“.
Max Holloway was quoted as saying, “We were with the boys, with the team, and I was on my skateboard and we know that’s where you do interviews, right? So I didn’t know who was in it, but I was like, ‘If someone’s interviewing, I’m gonna act like an idiot passing the whole window. So I was doing stupid stuff like this (flails arms around) the whole time when I was riding past and, of course, it’s Conor’s interview, so it was just funny.” [via MMA Junkie]
Well, Holloway is still just 29, and has got a lot of ‘prime-fighting’ years left in his career. ‘Blessed’ is also open to fighting Conor McGregor again.
