Tiger Woods
Let’s face it, Tiger Woods has changed the landscape of the game of golf ever since he tip-toed onto the lush green course as a professional in 1996. Before that, Tiger had already announced what the world was yet to witness when he made his name in the junior circuit in some stellar fashion. Although devoid of a major since 2008, Tiger’s footprints in the golfing arena can not be undermined.
Once he started, there was nothing to look back on for Tiger Woods. in 1997 he became the youngest to win the Masters, the first of many majors to follow. Shortly after that, crowned the Sportsperson of the Year by Sports Illustrated. Halfway into 1997, Woods would go on to become the world No. 1, the fastest ever.
Tiger Woods continued his meteoric rise full of awe and charisma. The game of golf had a gem on its hand, that would fetch attention from around the world and inspire generations to come to play the sport. Tiger’s name would be etched in gold in the game’s history.
Tiger Woods’ impact is Cristiano and Messi alike

Woods was asked why or how he and some other notable greats such as Maradona and MJ kind of surpassed their respective professions. Tiger calmly clarified – “I don’t think we’re necessarily bigger than the sport, I think it’s just we’ve had so much success in the sport and I think it’s in the way we’ve done it.”
Woods was ecstatic when he took to Cristiano and Messi doing the same to the game of football as he did with golf. “What Messi and Ronaldo are doing in soccer now is just phenomenal — but in two different ways.” Even Michael Jordan got a mention from Woods as he was all praises for the NBA goat, – “And then you have (Michael) Jordan coming into the league (NBA), he did it completely differently to anybody else.”
Tiger was trying to explain some of the reasons for his success. “When I came into golf, I did it differently because no one had ever trained, no one ever lifted weights, no one ever ran miles, no one ever did wind sprints. No one ever did any of those things in golf and I had success doing it differently. And I think that’s what people sometimes see and have gravitated towards.”
Lately, the taste of victory has eluded Tiger as he has battled through some personal shitstorms for more than a decade or so. Injuries too have taken a toll on the superstar, but the golfing world is waiting for the comeback of their G.O.A.T and to trust the fans out there, they have more confidence that Tiger Woods would be back with a bang. Probably more than Tiger himself has at the moment.
