‘I’m linking up with Masvidal tomorrow’ – Jake Paul wants to channel Jorge Masvidal’s energy and knock Ben Askren out under 5 seconds
Jake Paul and Jorge Masvidal
Jake Paul who is set to take on Ben Askren, in a pro-boxing match on the 17th of April, this year, has revealed that he is going to train with Jorge Masvidal, to channel his energy and knockout Ben Askren in under 5 seconds, even faster than Jorge knocked him out. Jake Paul is currently 2-0 in his professional boxing career, with wins over YouTuber AnesonGib and former Basketball star Nate Robinson. The YouTuber-cum-Boxer is pretty confident that he would rough Ben Askren up.
Speaking in an interview with Ariel Helwani of ESPN, Jake Paul revealed that he would link up with Jorge Masvidal soon and train along with him. Despite ‘under 5 seconds’ being a lofty goal, the YouTuber believes he can achieve the record.
‘I know it seems like a lofty goal, but if I can get under 4.9 seconds then I can break his record‘ – Jake Paul
Paul was quoted as saying, “We’re here in Miami training. I wanted to channel Masvidal’s energy since he’s in Florida. I wanted to link up with Masvidal. I’m linking up with Masvidal tomorrow. He’s going to help me train for this fight. And hopefully, I can knock out Askren faster than Masvidal did. I know it seems like a lofty goal, but if I can get under 4.9 seconds then I can break his record.“
Well, all was going well for Ben Askren, before he took on Jorge Masvidal at UFC 239. Within 5 seconds, Ben Askren was knocked out cold, lying on the canvas, as stiff as a board. He was undefeated in his MMA career, before that. That knockout, almost ended his career, as he would then go on to retire, after losing to Demian Maia in his next outing.
Jake Paul, on the other hand, has been taking boxing seriously and one can simply not write him off. Although, he is yet to face a pro-combat sports athlete in his boxing career, he definitely seems to have the skill set to take on a fighter like Ben Askren.
