Boxing Legend Lennox Lewis might be an old man today, but he is still confident of his skillset as he was in his prime whilst capturing his legacy. Lewis, the former world heavyweight champion who was also the last heavyweight to hold the undisputed championship and the Olympic gold medalist, is known for his wins over the likes of Shannon Briggs, Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Ray Mercer, Tommy Morrison and many more.

Lewis was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame in 2009. The heavyweight division has advanced so far and there has never been an undisputed champion since. However, chances are when we will see the winner of 2 fights eventually fight each other they will have the heavyweight belts from all the organisations. The belts include that from The Ring, WBO, WBA, WBC, IBF, and IBO. These 2 important fights are (a) Tyson Fury (C- WBC and The Ring) vs Dillian Whyte and (b) Oleksandr Usyk (C- WBO, WBA, IBF, IBO) vs Anthony Joshua 2.

In an interview with talkSPORT Boxing, Lewis talks about his chances against current WBC and The Ring heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, in his prime and seems like while his body has aged, Lewis’ heart is ready to scrap anytime the time calls for. Fury is an undefeated boxer as well with a record of 31-0 and 22 wins by knockouts.

“I think that would be a great fight,” says Lewis “With, of course, me winning, I’m not going to say I’m going to lose so, and he would probably say the same thing,” concludes Lewis.

But the boxing hall of fame gives the current champ his due credit “I respect what he’s done for the sport what he’s doing for the sport… just how he treats his people and just how he is,” he says.

What do you make of Lewis giving himself the favour of the results of his fantasy match against Fury? Who do you think wins between Fury and his opponent this weekend Dillian Whyte? Where do you put Lewis amongst the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time? For the record, Lewis was the first heavyweight champion to win a gold medal in the super-heavyweight category of the Olympic Games, and also the seventh gold medalist in a line of boxers with Olympic gold medals.
