Draymond Green apologized to Jusuf Nurkic after the former swung an arm in the face of the latter Tuesday night during the game between the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns. This led to Green getting ejected again this season. The player recently came back from a five game suspension. Draymond is the heart and soul of this Warriors but now, that has come under attack.
He was talking to the press and was asked about it.In his apology, Green stressed that the punch was accidental and that it happened as he was attempting to sell a foul to the Bosnian center. Draymond Green said:
As you know, I'm not one to apologize for things I meant to do, but I do apologize to Jusuf [Nurkic] because I didn't intend to hit him.
He said he sells his call with his arms. Hence, he was doing the same with Nurkic. Nothing in the play suggested that Green was coerced into taking any action. It doesn’t seem like Nurkić was even making much touch with his body as he began to flail his arms.
The Suns centre was at a loss for explanations regarding Green’s situation:
What's going on with him? I don't know. Personally, I feel like that brother needs help. I'm glad he didn't try to choke me
With only 15 games played this season, this is Green’s third ejection. He was already dismissed from a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on November 11 after he committed two technical fouls. Before Tuesday, he had been ejected from a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on November 14 after putting Rudy Gobert in a headlock.
As a result of that, he was suspended for five games. The league claimed at the time that Green’s prior history of being unsportsmanlikely on the court contributed to the duration of his punishment.
Draymond Green’s Warriors go down to the Phoenix Suns
Devin Booker scored 32 points and dished out seven assists to lead the Phoenix Suns beat the Golden State Warriors 119-116 on Tuesday night. Kevin Durant, who missed his second straight game due to a sprained left ankle, was replaced by the Suns. Phoenix increased their record against the Warriors to 3-0 this season. All thanks to the 17 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 assists that Jusuf Nurkic provided.
For the Warriors, Brandin Podziemski contributed 20 points and 11 rebounds in addition to 24 points from Stephen Curry. Curry and Podziemski gave it their all. In the end, the Warriors lost for the eleventh time in the previous fifteen games, including six straight on the road.
Draymond’ Green’s potential suspension adds to the problems. The team will need him but he won’t be there to serve them. Green is always known to be hot tempred but these repeated incidents show that the team is getting affected by this. It’s time he steps up and show us why he is admired and respected
