“I’m the reason that he doesn’t come up to 170 in the first place” Colby Covington claims Khabib was scared of him

Khabib Nurmagomedov will go down as one of the most dominant fighters to ever step foot inside the octagon. The Russian announced his retirement at UFC 254; and he leaves undefeated and perhaps unopposed. It could be fair to say that while many of his peers hold immense respect for him, some don’t really feel the same way. However, claiming to have no respect is one thing, and claiming that he is afraid of you is another.
Welterweight contender Colby Covington claims that he was the reason why Khabib Nurmagomedov stayed at lightweight. The brash former interim UFC Welterweight Champion certainly had some very interesting things to say about the “eagle”.
Colby mocks Khabib, claims :”He’s beating up little midgets”
Colby Covington went off on the former lightweight champion. He went as far as to say that “the eagle” was scared of him and that was the reason he never made wlterweight. “I think I’m the man, and I’m the reason that he doesn’t come up to 170 [pounds] in the first place. There’s a reason that Khabib cuts all that weight, he cuts tons of weight, everybody knows he walks around at like 190[pounds]. Covington stated at Submission Radio.
He further added, “He’s bigger than me, but you know, I’m a real man, I fight at my weight class. I’ll fight a man, any size.” Proceeding to take jabs at Khabib’s weight division, he said, “Khabib’s looking for a way, he’s beating up little midgets, okay, that’s cool, Khabib. You beat up a bunch of little guys, a bunch of little midgets, but you’re not gonna fight at a real man’s weight class like 170 [pounds] at welterweight because you know I’m the man.”
“You know who’s here. You know you have no chance to keep that undefeated record, so there’s a reason he’s looking to cut a bunch of weight and there’s a reason I’ll fight any man alive,” Covington rambled. It is given that his remarks are not going to sit well with a majority of the MMA community. It will only make the repercussions that much more exciting to watch.
