Roger Federer arrived at Wimbledon a day after his wife Mirka Federer watched World No.1 Jannik Sinner pull off a hard-fought four-set win over compatriot Matteo Berrettini, who was also the runner-up in 2021. The pictures of the 42-year-old on Thursday looking ‘classy’ in his bluish-gray suit and a black tie are doing rounds on social media platforms. 

Mirka had stunned the tennis fans by making a rare appearance with her kids without the eight-time Wimbledon champion. And as expected, Federer showed up on Thursday.

Federer last played at Wimbledon in 2021 when he reached the quarterfinals and lost to Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz. The next year, he missed playing at the All-England Club for the first time since 1998.

After turning pro in 1998, the Swiss maestro won his first Wimbledon title in 2003 and continued winning it for the next four years before Rafael Nadal broke the streak in 2008. Federer’s next three titles came in 2009, 2012, and 2017, which he won by beating Marin Cilic in the final. After featuring in the Laver Cup doubles match he played with Nadal, the 20-time Grand Slam champion finally retired from tennis.

Federer is enjoying his time outside the tennis courts. He is into traveling and the pictures of him enjoying his time around different places of the world are all over social media. Now he has an ample amount of time on his hands to spend his days with his kids, who, however, were the ones who forced him to fly to London again to attend Wimbledon. 

I'm making plans, kids are pushing me there. I’m happy at home, but the kids said, 'No, we want to come to Wimbledon this year, you were last year without us!’ So, hey, then we go to Wimbledon. Most likely I'll be there. I don’t know if we’re going to watch any matches, but I’ll be in Wimbledon Village, so try to spot me there.

Last year at Wimbledon, the 42-year-old played a match with Kate Middleton before the start of the tournament. He then sat next to her in the Royal Box match on Day 2 of the tournament and was honored for his achievements at the SW19.
