Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay reportedly broke down in tears before addressing the media after his team’s heartbreaking playoff loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Philadelphia Eagles eliminated the Rams in the Divisional Round of the NFL postseason this year.

After the game, an emotional Sean McVay praised his players, commending their efforts during a challenging stretch for the Rams. Just a week earlier, their NFC Wildcard Playoff matchup was relocated to Arizona due to devastating wildfires in southern California, which forced their game against the Vikings to be moved. The Rams, despite losing their home advantage a bit, made fun of the Minnesota Vikings who had won fourteen games in the regular season.

Man, I’m damn proud to be associated with this football team. I didn’t see it going any other way than us winning that game 29-28 (on the final drive)… I felt like we had total control towards the latter part of that game, momentum was in our favor, and we had an opportunity to win that game and we just came up short.

D’Marco Farr, former Rams defensive tackle and member of the 1999 Super Bowl-winning team under Dick Vermeil, shed light on McVay’s emotional state during a candid conversation on The Travis & D’Marco Show.

I’ve never seen McVay break like that. I have seen McVay cry but that’s what he does. I have never seen McVay break like that. […] Talking to his team, telling them how proud he is, how hard they fought and then, that’s why I don’t know if listening to the broadcast, it took forever to get to him for the post-game. And I’m standing right there. I could see him. It just was a lot. And everything he said in the post-game press conference he was saying, in his mind it was 29-28, we are coming back to LA.

Sean McVay showed why he is loved by everyone in a candid moment after the loss

Rams head coach Sean McVay admitted to the media that he was “shocked” his team couldn’t complete their comeback against the Eagles on Sunday night. Despite his disappointment, the 38-year-old made it a point to show unwavering support for his players.

LA sports anchor Darren M. Haynes captured a touching moment as Sean McVay greeted each Rams player entering the locker room after the loss. Amongst the players was the standout Defensive Rookie of the Year contender Jared Verse, whose outstanding performance fell just short.

McVay, coaching his 13th postseason game and the thirteenth opponent, came very close and gave the Eagles a real scare. The Rams braved the inclement weather, an aspect where their statistics stacked up pretty bad for them. But, as everyone knows, they couldn’t make it to the end. As for the Philadelphia Eagles, they will take on Washington Commanders. The Commanders is led by a rookie who’s eager to become the first-ever first-year to lead his team to the Super Bowl.
