India added 2 golds and a silver to their medal tally today, the concluding day of the ISSF World Cup in Rifle/Pistol and Shotgun at New Delhi.

Today’s medals were all in team events. India won golds in Men’s and Women’s Trap team and a silver in 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men’s team. With this, the hosts finished on top of the medal standings with a whopping 30 medals: 15 golds, 9 silvers and 6 bronzes. USA with 8 medals were a distant second (4G, 3S, 1B)

It must be remembered though that many of the team events saw only 1 or 2 teams participating besides India thereby guaranteeing medals; and in individual events some of the top shooting nations such as China and Russia were absent. On a positive note the scores posted by Indian shooters especially in airgun events were world-class.

Trap Men’s Team

India (Kynan Chenai, Lakshay Sheoran, Prithviraj Tondaiman) came back from behind to register a 6-4 win over Slovakia (Michal Slamka, Adrian Drobny, Filip Marinov). Slovakia were 4-2 ahead but some calm shooting from the Indians, especially Tondaiman in face of errors from Slovakia got them the win.

In the bronze match, Kazakhstan (Victor Khassyanov, Maxim Kolomoyets, Andrey Mogilevskiy) beat Qatar 6-4.

Trap Women’s Team

The Indian team of Rajeshwari Kumari, Manisha Keer and Shreyasi Singh scored an easy 6-0 victory over Kazakhstan (Sarsenkul Rysbekova, Aizhan Dosmagambetova, Mariya Dmitriyenko).

Shreyasi Singh, who missed a bronze yesterday with Kynan Chenai in the Mixed event, was the best shooter on the day and missed only 2 targets out of 15.

Only 2 nations participated, consequently there was no bronze medal match.

25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men’s Team

Team USA comprised of Keith Sanderson, Jack Leverett III and Henry Leverett beat India (Gurpreet Singh, Vijayveer Sidhu, Adarsh Singh) 10-2. There was no bronze match as only 2 teams participated.
