Several local Australian players survived a scare after a light plane crashed onto a busy sporting field at Cromer Park in Sydney, Australia on Saturday. The incident took place almost 30 km away from Sydney Olympic Park where the Indian cricket team is currently staying in quarantine for the upcoming tour. Moreover, some domestic athletes were playing cricket and football on the field when the crash happened at around 4:30 PM local time.

A few cricket and football matches were underway when the plane accident took place. Luckily, it just missed a sporting shed that consisted of a gathering of almost a dozen players. Moreover, no fatal injuries were reported, and the two occupants of the plane also survived despite injuries. As per reports, they belonged to a nearby flying school.

“I yelled out to the guys in the shed, I just said run. They started running,” Greg Rollins, the senior vice-president of the Cromer Cricket Club was quoted as saying stuff.co.nz.

“The plane started to smoke, and I thought we had to get these guys out. The plane looked like it was going to blow up. The victims were still conscious but they were ‘not in a good way’. One guy, his face wasn’t good. They hit hard enough to do a lot of damage but they’re alive, that’s the main thing,” Rollins added.
