India tour of Australia: ‘Really looking forward to the tour’ – Shubman Gill expresses ‘excitement’
Ravi Shastri in conversation with Shubman Gill
21-year-old Indian batsman Shubman Gill has been considered by many to be one of the hottest prospects in Indian cricket. The youngster has been touted by many to become a mainstay in the Indian team for years to come. The right-handed batsman is currently in Australia having been selected for India’s ODI squad which is scheduled to begin from November 27.
Gill had a good Indian Premier League (IPL) season for his franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He finished as the side’s leading run-scorer with 440 runs in 14 matches. Although, his strike-rate was a bit on the lower side and his side couldn’t reach the playoffs, Gill’s efforts received plaudits and praise.
‘I always used to watch India vs Australia matches’ – Gill
Gill spoke about his thoughts on the upcoming India vs Australia series and stated that he was excited about playing a part in it. “I am really looking forward to Australia because this is my first trip. As a kid growing up, I always watched the matches between India and Australia. I am really excited,” said Gill in a video posted by the official Twitter handle of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
“I mean the fact that a lot of my friends are travelling with the team will be exciting. I have not really set any personal goals, but I am really looking forward to the tour,” he added in the short video which was filmed before the Indian contingent left for Australia.
India and Australia will play three ODIs starting from November 27 where Gill might play a part especially because of the fact that ace opener Rohit Sharma is not a part of the squads. There will then be three T20Is and four Tests in which Gill is not a part of the squads.
