India Tour of Australia: Rohit Sharma begins fitness training at NCA
Rohit Sharma
Australia-bound Rohit Sharma began his fitness training at the National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru on Thursday. Rohit Sharma will join the Indian contingent before the Test series commencing from December 17 in Adelaide.
His name went missing from the Indian squads for the limited-overs series (three ODIs and three T20Is) Down Under. Rohit Sharma picked a hamstring injury during the recently-concluded 13th edition of Indian Premier League. He has been rested for the white-ball matches to avoid aggravating his injury before the all-important Test matches.

Rohit Sharma would be one of the most crucial batsmen for Indian against the Aussies. Moreover, his importance increases even more as Indian skipper Virat Kohli will leave the series after the first Test match.
The Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI) had informed of the decision to add Rohit to the squad for the Test series after excluding him from the tour due to the hamstring injury.
“The BCCI Medical Team has been monitoring Rohit Sharma’s fitness and has briefed the All-India Senior Selection Committee on the same. In consultation with Sharma, it has been decided to rest him for the ODIs and T20Is in Australia to regain full fitness. He has been included in India’s Test squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy,” the BCCI said in a release.
