India tour of Australia: Shikhar Dhawan shares first look of India’s new jersey for limited overs series

Indian opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has confirmed various reports that were doing the rounds that India will don the retro 1992 World Cup jersey for the limited overs series in their tour of Australia. He did so by posting an image of him wearing the jersey on his social media handles.
This comes just about a week after Cricket Australia’s announcement that the Australian cricket team will wear specially-designed indigenous jerseys. Further, it was Australia that started the trend of wearing vintage and retro jerseys when they did so in India’s previous tour in 2018-19. Early in 2020 as well, both Australia and New Zealand donned their 1999 World Cup jerseys.
‘New jersey, renewed motivation’
Showing the world a glimpse of the new kit, Shikhar Dhawan captioned a selfie of himself wearing the jersey with the caption, “New jersey, renewed motivation. Ready to go.“
The Indian cricket team will be seen donning this jersey when they take the field at the Sydney Cricket Ground on the 27th of November for the first ODI in the tour. There will be 3 ODIs in total followed by 3 T20Is before the much-awaited 4-match Test series. The last time India toured Australia they emerged victorious in the ODI and Test series while the T20I series was tied.
