Indian Cricket Team

Australian skipper Aaron Finch and Indian skipper Virat Kohli

The much-awaited India’s tour of Australia is just less than ten days away from now. Cricket lovers from all over have been waiting for this India-Australia series from quite a long time now. The faceoff will begin with the three One Day Internationals (ODIs) at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney and Manuka Oval, Canberra

The Indian team last played international cricket at the beginning of this year against New Zealand. They are coming to this tour after a two-month-long Indian Premier League in the UAE. Let’s look at the top five Indian players to watch out in ODI series against the Aussies.

KL Rahul

KL Rahul is in his prime form from the past some time. The right-hander also won the Orange Cap for amassing the maximum runs in the 13th edition of IPL. Moreover, he has been handed over the role of vice-captain in the absence of Rohit Sharma during the limited-overs matches. It would be interesting to see how he performs with an added responsibility on his shoulders.

Mayank Agarwal

Mayank Agarwal got selected as the second opener in this Indian lineup due to the absence of their regular white-ball cricket opener, Rohit Sharma. Agarwal looked in great touch while opening for Kings XI Punjab just like his partner Rahul. He smashed 424 runs in 11 matches at an impressive average of over 38.

Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer’s entry in the Indian team ended their long-run problem of a dependable batsman at number four. The 25-year has looked good while batting in the middle order for the Men in Blue. Moreover, he showed commendable leadership skills during his stint at IPL 2020 where he led his side Delhi Capitals to their maiden tournament finals. He also emerged as the fourth-highest run-getter of this year’s edition.

Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya returned from an injury in IPL 2020 where he played the role of a perfect finisher for Mumbai Indians. Batting at the lower middle-order, Pandya helped his side post massive totals on the board, taking on bowlers for cleaners. However, he didn’t bowl even a single delivery during the entire tournament, to not aggravate his injury. It would be interesting to see how Kohli uses Hardik as a batsman in ODIs against Australia.

Navdeep Saini

Navdeep Saini impressed all with his pace and bounce with the ball during the series against New Zealand. Moreover, he turned out to be a handy batsman for the side in the lower order. Saini couldn’t do much in this year’s IPL as he got injured mid-way during the tournament. The Australian pitches will complement the bowling style of Saini, and he’s expected to grab quite a few eyeballs during the limited-overs series.
