India Tour of Australia: Top 5 Indian players to watch out in Test series
Team India
The Indian team is all set to play the much-awaited away Test series against Australia, preceded by the ODIs and T20Is. The Men in Blue will play the first Day/Night Test match at the Adelaide Oval from December 17 onwards. Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane will host the remaining three Tests of the four-match series.
Last time when India went Down Under, Virat Kohli and co registered an unprecedented series victory in 2018. Now, let’s look at the top five who are expected to grab all the eyeballs this time when India squares off against Australia in the Test matches.
Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma will miss the limited-overs series against Australia as he’s still recovering from the hamstring injury. But he will open the innings for team India in the five-day format of the game. Rohit’s overseas Test record doesn’t justify him as a batsman, and he would be roaring to improve that in the upcoming series. He also won the ‘Man of the Series’ award against South Africa last year.
KL Rahul
KL Rahul has been in his prime form from the past sometimes in all the formats of the game. Moreover, he won the Orange Cap in the recently-concluded Indian Premier League 2020. Rahul smashed 670 runs in 14 matches while batting for Kings Xi Punjab. Also, he’s making a comeback in Test cricket and would love to make the most out of it.

Ajinkya Rahane
Indian Test team’s vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane saw a dip in his batting form in recent years. Moreover, he posted a string of low scores in IPL 2020 while batting for Delhi Capitals. But Rahane is still India’s one of the most dependable batsmen in overseas series and will continue playing a crucial role here as well. Moreover, he will be the skipper of the side, once Virat Kohli leaves after the first Test match.
Ravi Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin is one of the most crucial players of the current Indian Test team. But his form in away series has seen a slight dip from the past some time. Moreover, he suffered from several injuries in recent years. With Kohli mid-way leaving the series, experienced players like Ashwin will play a significant role in a tough challenge against Australia.
Jasprit Bumrah
World’s one of the leading pace bowlers Jasprit Bumrah looked in prime shape during the 13th edition of IPL. He emerged as the leading wicket-takers amongst the Indian bowlers, claiming 27 scalps in 15 games. Moreover, he played a crucial role when the last time India won the Test series in Australia under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. With the likes of Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma, Bumrah will be raging to go past the Aussie batsmen.
