India vs Australia 3rd Test Day 4: Talking points as Aussies dominate Indian players

A game of cricket

India vs Australia during day four of the Third Test match in Sydney.

With a buffer lead of around 200 runs at the end of Day 3 in the third Test in Sydney, Australian batsmen intent with the willow heightened on Day 4. It was difficult for the Indian bowlers to get a breakthrough as Aussies adrenaline rush came gushing through their bat.

At the stumps of Day 4, India are 98/2 and need 309 runs to win the match.

Let’s look at the major highlights of 3rd Test Day 4 at SCG.

Labuschagne-Smith 100-plus-run partnership

The deadly combination- Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith dominated the entire Australian batting in almost both the innings. In the second innings, they gathered a 103-run partnership, and both even registered their half-centuries.

Fabulous Cameron Green

Cameron Green was in his hot boiling hot form today. He consolidated well with the skipper Tim Paine (39 not out) and smashed 84 runs. In his innings, he smashed eight fours, four sixes and maintained a whopping strike rate of almost 64.

Favorable start by Indians Openers

After Australia declared, Indian openers- Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill walked down the pitch. Much similar to the first innings, they gathered 71-run partnership after which Gill departed. Rohit Sharma got dismissed at 52 runs, in quite a similar fashion as his first innings.

Australian crowd halts play

Abuses and racists comments flowed in for Indian player Mohammed Siraj before the Tea break on Day 4, that halted the play for ten minutes. A similar derogatory incident from the Sydney crowd happened late on Day 3, when abuses were hurled on Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah.

The bigot fans were then evicted from the stadium while the investigation by ICC is still underway.
