As the players hit the grounds on Day 2 of the fourth Test match in Brisbane, spectators got two absorbing sessions of play. The third session was washed out by rain and India finished at 62 for 2.

As Day 2 concluded with a trail of 307 runs for the Indian side, here are the talking points of the day.

Paine-Green partnership

Cameron Green and skipper Tim Paine troubled the Indian bowlers the same way as they did in the second innings of the third Test match in Sydney. At the Gabba, their partnership stand extended to 98-runs.

India’s debutants rose to glory

The all-rounder Washington Sundar and the left-arm pacer T Natrajan notched their maiden wickets. Both of them secured three wickets each and made a mark right in their first Test match. Besides, with Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Siraj’s contribution, India bundled Australia comparatively early than what it seemed.

India’s batting

Indian openers walked the pitch during the second session of the Day 2 but didn’t get a favourable start like the previous matches. Soon the young Shubman Gill was dismissed. Sharma, who looked in an excellent form, lost his wicket in an irresponsible shot and departed at 44 runs.
