India vs Australia: A panoramic view on the just-concluded Border-Gavaskar 2020-21 series
From the cool of the white ball series format, India tunnelled into the sizzling hot red-ball format, where India locked horns with Australia in the most awaited Test series. With Australia winning ODI’s 2-1, India stole these digits in the T20’s, following which the heart ventricles were gushing with blood ahead of the Border-Gavaskar series.
Horrendous in Adelaide
India took on the hosts at the Adelaide and looked in fine touch, where the first innings saw India’s impressive performance with the bat and the ball. A massive unwanted turnaround of events happened in the second innings, where the whole of the Indian Team was bundled for just 36 runs, the lowest total ever. Adelaide was a nightmare to be forgotten by India!
Comeback in Melbourne
Having zilch confidence, no spirits, Team India flew to Melbourne for the iconic Boxing Day Test match. With all predictions of the likely winner-Australia on the Boxing Day Test, the prophecies were proven wrong as India won by eight wickets under Ajinkya Rahane’a control, the standing captain. This pink-ball test match changed the complexion of the series, which earlier seemed to be a clean sweep in Australia’s favour.
Ravishing in Sydney
With an uplifted zeal, India could now withstand Australians in their eyes and clashed in the third Test in Sydney. Fighting all odds, the injury-marred Indians, sledging by Australians, racial comments hurled by the Sydney crowd, the nail-biting match concluded in a draw after Team India’s heroics.
The fact that the series was now level 1-1, with one drawn match ahead of the fourth and the decider Test match in Brisbane, India superficially depicted to be settling with a tie. Still, deep inside India wanted to retain the trophy by winning the Test series and not just with a tie.
Triumphant in Brisbane
As India clinched an emphatic win at the Gabba by three wickets, India rusted off the poor image that it acquired in the first Test match. Besides, India broke the cliché shackles with the historic win as Australia had not lost any Test match at the Gabba in the past 32 years.
It took time for the cricketing fraternity to absorb the enormous unreal and unfathomable win that India had sealed. Team India and its religious fans relish the over-joyful moment of retaining the Border-Gavaskar 2020-21, after winning the series 2-1.
Undoubtedly, Team India fought ferociously against all debacles and fiascos to emerge victoriously.
