India sealed one of their greatest Test victories by chasing down 328 runs on the final day at the Gabba against Australia and retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy with a 2-1 score-line. The heroes on Day 5 were half-centurions Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant who displayed incredible grit and determination to hold on and help India chase the huge score down.

With the victory, India proved the predictions of a plethora of fans and former cricketers wrong as an Indian win was unprecedented. The Aussies were expected to walk away as easy winners in the series after the debacle in the first Test in Adelaide. However, India showed heart and character through all adversity to come up trumps.

Michael Vaughan reacts after prediction goes awry

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan was one of the former cricketers who had predicted a 4-0 win for Australia in the Test series. After his prediction turned out to be awfully wrong, he tweeted a series of tweets congratulating India for their spectacular victory. He first wrote, “Wow .. That has to go down as one of the greatest if not the greatest Test victory of all time !! Egg on my face over here in the UK .. but I love to see character & skill .. India have it in abundance . (sic)” before calling Pant and Gill as superstars.

He then called the victory as the greatest Test series win of all time and stating that England must learn from India before recalling his infamous prediction. He then wrote a cheeky tweet saying that he seems to be getting a lot of tweets from Indians. Finally, he shared a throwback video of Aussie skipper Tim Paine sledging Ravichandran Ashwin and saying “Aged well.
