There are not many batsmen who could trouble World’s number one Test bowler Pat Cummins. When asked Cummins named AB de Villers as the toughest batsman he ever bowled to in all whites. The Aussie quick hailed de Villiers ability to score quickly across formats as he recalled his encounter with him in the 2018 tour. While Australia’s tour of South Africa in 2018 is widely renowned for the Sandpaper Gate. It was also a well-fought series between the two sides where the hosts prevailed with pride.

I think I have to say, AB de Villiers, probably my toughest, or toughest batter I have bowled to. Especially if I think of the 2018 Test series,” Cummins said in a virtual press conference.

He is just class above like at any time he could switch in the T20 mode and could probably make 100 in five overs. So I’ll name him,” he added.

So yeah! no stress about Smith and Labuschagne

Australia’s batting mainstay Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne have been unusually quiet in the ongoing Test series against India. While Labuschagne had not been able to capitalise on great starts, the former has not been able to touch double figures in the first two Tests. His poor form has brought Smith under fire lately but Cummins feels the duo will bounce back strong. The pacer is confident of their batting prowess and shares that there is no stress whatsoever regarding their form.

For guys like that (Smith and Marnus Labuschagne), they don’t need to look too far backward. Marnus churned them out and dominated the last summer and Steve, it was just a month ago that he scored two back-to-back hundreds in the one-dayers off 70 balls or so, so yeah! no stress, I’m sure they’ll find a way,” said Cummins.

India’s eight-wicket win at the MCG has set the Border Gavaskar series ablaze. With the series levelled 1-1, the last two games are destined to see a good fight between the stalwarts of the game.
