India vs Australia: Jasprit Bumrah to miss Brisbane Test with abdominal strain
In what is another huge blow to India’s hopes of winning the Test series against Australia, ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the fourth Test in Brisbane with an abdominal strain. Bumrah has been the leader of the Indian pace attack in the series and in the absence of veterans Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami, has been excellent in marshalling his troops in the attack.
In the third Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Bumrah was relentless with his bowling but could pick only 3 wickets. The Indian batters despite finding their backs to the walls secured a draw from the jaws of defeat however, and ensured the series was all square heading into the final Test.
Bumrah expected to be available against England
A source from BCCI confirmed the news of Bumrah’s absence in the final Test and said, “Jasprit Bumrah suffered an abdominal strain while fielding in Sydney. He is going to sit out of the Brisbane Test but is expected to be available against England. If we take the risk of him playing at 50 percent, what if the injury aggravates and he breaks down in the middle of the match and then ruled out for better part of England series? England is the last series which will decide the qualification for World Test Championship final and we are in contention and would require a fit Bumrah.”
India will also be without Ravindra Jadeja and Hanuma Vihari for the fourth Test and it remains to be seen what team combination they go with for the same.
