India vs Australia: ‘It’s always a great battle with him’ – Nathan Lyon looking forward to face-off with Rishabh Pant in milestone Test
Nathan Lyon and Rishabh Pant
Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon is playing the 100th Test of his career in Brisbane. And the veteran has already scalped a wicket in the game. Lyon sent a dangerous-looking Rohit Sharma packing early in the innings. The Aussie shares that he is looking forward to a faceoff with Rishabh Pant in his milestone Test. Lyon asserts that young Pant is an attacking batsman and he always loves the challenge of a run-in with him.
Lyon had dismissed the young wicketkeeper in Sydney to cut short his counterattacking innings.
“The crowd’s been amazing, Rohit is a world-class player and tried to bowl him my best ball. It would’ve been nice to go out for dinner with everyone, including my parents but there are bubble restrictions. It was like a day 3 wicket yesterday, and there’s a nice crack outside off-stump so I’m trying to aim at that. Rishabh always tries to smash me so I’m looking forward to bowl to him, it’s always a great battle with him,” said Lyon during the rain-break.
Lyon eyes yet another milestone at the Gabba
The New South Welshman is eyeing yet another milestone in the ongoing fourth Test. Lyon currently boats of 397 Test wickets, having dismissed Rohit. And will be looking to complete 400 wickets with the red ball in his 100th Test itself. With almost two innings left to bowl in the Test, Lyon has identified the perfect line for him to bowl.
“My natural line is Paine’s right glove, that’s about a foot outside off-stump, and there’s a nice crack on that line so hopefully I can get something out of that,” he added.
Australia are ahead at the Gabba before rain led to the suspension of play in the final session of the second day. Having lost the openers, India will resume play tomorrow from 62 with the experienced duo of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane out in the middle.
