India suffered a dramatic loss in the first Test against Australia at the Adelaide Oval. The batting order was destroyed for a score of 36/9, their lowest score in history, in the second innings handing Australia a comfortable win. However, Australian batting ace Steve Smith has given a piece of advice to India after the debacle in Adelaide.

Batsmen toppled one after the other, as the Aussie pacer duo of Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins scalped 5 and 4 wickets respectively. As a result, Australia secured a 1-0 lead in the four-match series. The contest will now shift to Melbourne. And although Steve Smith has no time to think about how India would be planning a vengeance, he however, does have a word of advice.

‘It’s important to keep moving forward’

Steve Smith had a few words of advice to India after the carnage they faced in Adelaide.

Look, the other day we just saw some pretty incredible fast bowling. It is probably the best I’ve seen our bowlers bowl collectively for about five years I think,” he said during a virtual media conference facilitated by Sony Network. “The lengths they were hitting were just impeccable. Sometimes that happens, you get a good ball and you nick it. You got to let it go and move on and try and keep yourself in a positive mindset,” the 31-year old added.

He was further asked about what he feels would be India’s mindset after the loss. “Again every individual is different, the way they take their dismissals, how they think about the game after it’s finished. It’s important to keep moving forward, look at yourself individually, what you could have done better,” he answered.

The Boxing Day Test match will take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. It will begin on 26 December. “I like batting at the MCG on those sorts of big occasions. I’d like to try and make the most of them,” he said.

Smith has a terrific record in Boxing Day Test matches. Since his debut in Ashes 2010-11, he has smashed 4 centuries with 3 of them unbeaten and 3 fifties in 7 such games.
