India vs Australia: Matthew Wade and Glenn Maxwell take Australia to 186/5
Matthew Wade

In the third and inconsequential T20I today against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Australia got to a good and competitive total of 186/5 in the first innings. Aaron Finch returned as captain for the Aussies and was asked to bat first by Virat Kohli. India were unchanged while Marcus Stoinis missed out for Australia.

Australia got off to a horror start as they lost skipper Finch for a duck off Washington Sundar’s bowling. However, Matthew Wade, the stand-in captain in the previous game continues his terrific form getting Australia to a score of 51/1 in the Powerplay along with Steve Smith.

India celebrate a wicket

Steve Smith was cautious throughout his innings and fell off Sundar giving the spinner his second wicket. Glenn Maxwell then joined Wade and made merry hitting the Indian bowlers around the park. The duo took a liking for Yuzvendra Chahal and Shardul Thakur as the duo went for plenty.

In the end Australia reached 186, 8 runs short of the score in the second T20I. India’s dropped catches and misfields didn’t help their cause either. Another stiff test awaits India in the second innings.
