India vs Australia: Rain plays spoilsport after Australia reduce India to 62/2 on Day 2

Australia ended Day 2 on top after reducing India to 62/2 in the fourth and final Test in Brisbane. Earlier, the hosts had added to their overnight score of 274/5 by ending up with 369. Tim Paine and Cameron Green, the overnight partners both put on 36 more runs on the day and were looking threatening but India came back into the game by removing both in quick succession.
The Aussie tail then wagged for a bit with Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon scoring twenties. Josh Hazlewood added a handy score of 11 as well. T Natarajan, Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar took 3 wickets apiece for India as Australia ended with a very good score at The Gabba.
Australia dismiss openers before rain arrives

India were dealt an early blow in their reply with Shubman Gill holing out to Steve Smith off Pat Cummins’ bowling. Cheteshwar Pujara and Rohit Sharma then hung around for nearly 14 overs with the latter playing the aggressor. However, he fell to a loose shot that never should have been employed and in Test cricket at that.
Pujara and skipper Ajinkya Rahane then preserved their wickets till the end of the second session before rain arrived and washed out the entirety of the third session. Play was due to begin for the last hour after rain subsided, however a wet outfield meant the umpires deemed it unfit for play to resume. A crucial Day 3’s play awaits the Indians tomorrow with rain forecast on Day 4 and 5 as well.
