India vs Australia: Ravindra Jadeja doubtful for remainder of T20 series and Tests – Reports
Ravindra Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja was the talking point of India’s first T20I against Australia today after he played a match-winning hand of 44 runs in 23 balls. However, the all-rounder had to go off after a hamstring injury coupled with fears of a concussion. He was then replaced by a ‘concussion substitute’ in the form of Yuzvendra Chahal who himself turned out to be a match-winner by picking up 3 wickets.
There were questions of whether the replacement was ‘like for like’ and whether the concussion was used as an excuse to make use of the substitute for Jadeja’s hamstring injury. But at the end of the day, India did not have any other ‘like for like’ replacement and according to the rules of the game according to the ICC, the decision was fair.
Jadeja’s hamstring reported to be ‘not good’
Following the conclusion of the 1st T20I, reports have emerged of Ravindra Jadeja’s injury status. A report in Cribuzz says that according to sources from the Indian camp, Jadeja’s hamstring looks ‘worrying’ and ‘not good’. It seems more thank likely that Jadeja will miss the remainder of the T20I series which India won’t mind too much.
What is worrying is Jadeja’s availability in the Test series. The left-armer is one of the best all-rounders in Test cricket at the moment and his ruling out (if it happens) will be a big blow to India’s hopes which have already been dampened by the absence of Virat Kohli after the first Test due to his ‘paternity leave’.
More news and official confirmation on Ravindra Jadeja’s injury status is awaited.
