The preparations of the Australian team suffered massive blows after many of their players picked injuries before the start of the much-awaited Test series against India. Their star batsman Steve Smith became the latest entrant to this list after he agonized his back soreness during a practice session.
Australian skipper Tim Paine gave the all-important update on his teammate’s injury ahead of the Adelaide Test. Paine looked confident on the recovery of Smith and expected him to play the inaugural match.
“We expect him to play, he has had a stiff back before. Yesterday was more precautionary. He is in training today so, we’ll see how he goes. Come tomorrow whether he’s a bit sore in the back or stiff in the back he normally gets up and gets through it. He finds a way to score runs like he always does,” Tim Paine told reporters when asked about Steve Smith.

“His preparation has been very good. He’s batted for the last week since we’ve been in Adelaide. For him to have a day off might actually be a blessing in disguise,” said Paine.
Cameron Green looks pretty good to go: Paine
The Aussie skipper also talked about the chances of Cameron Green making his Test debut against India on December 17. Green suffered from ‘mild concussion’ after a bouncer hit him during the practise match against the Indian XI. The 36-year old said that the all-rounder is training well in the camps and looks set to play his maiden game.
“He is pretty good to go. He trained pretty well with us yesterday; reports are he has pulled up well this morning and intends to train today as well. All things going well, Cam Green will make his Test debut tomorrow which is great news for him, great news for us and great news for Australian cricket fans,” he said.
