An enthralling day of Test cricket topped off a well-fought Test series as India emerged victorious with a gritty effort. After an eight-wicket mauling at Adelaide, the tourists bounced back, exactly a month following the infamous innings, to lift the prestigious Border Gavaskar Trophy. En route history at the Gabba, India pulled off two memorable performances in Melbourne and Sydney to set up the series finale.

Coming into the final Test, a bruised and batter India side struggled to put together a side for the game. But the rookie side didn’t only put up a good fight but went on breach Australia’s fortress Gabba. It took a highly depleted Indian side to break Australia’s 32 year-long undefeated streak at the Gabba. And what made the win special was the fact that it was engineered by the new generation of the Indian side.

Former Indian captain Sachin Tendulkar penned an appreciation post for the Indian side following their historic win. Heaping praises on the tourists, Tendulkar pointed out that a failure is not the end of life.

For all of us in Flag of India & across the world, if you ever score 36 or lesser in life, remember: it isn’t end of the world. The spring stretches backward only to propel you forward. And once you succeed, don’t forget to celebrate with those who stood by you when the world wrote you off,” Tendulkar tweeted.

Above all, the win propelled India to the top of the World Test Championship table while Australia slipped down to three. Next up, India plays England at home which will be their final series of the Test Championship. If they manage to win the series at home 2-0, they will seal their place at Lords for the WTC final.
