India vs Australia: Twitter expresses surprise after controversial Tim Paine run-out decision

The ongoing second Test between India and Australia witnessed a controversial incident when a contentious run-out decision was made by third umpire Paul Wilson. In the 55th over of the match bowled by Ravichandran Ashwin, Cameron Green who was on strike pushed the ball to mid-off and set off for a single when there never was a run. Thanks to a fumble from the fielder, what was an easy run-out chance was squandered by India.
However, Rishabh Pant did well to reach out and dislodge the stumps. The decision was sent to the third-umpire and it did seem out on cursory viewing as it was evident that the bat hadn’t crossed the line. With everybody expecting an ‘OUT’ signal to pop up, umpire Paul Wilson decided to signal ‘NOT OUT’ much to the surprise of the Indians and the commentators. The umpiring decision soon went viral and Twitter was divided.
