India vs Australia: Virat Kohli congratulates team India for an emphatic win at the Boxing Day Test
Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli
The Indian team registered a one-sided victory against Australia in the second Test match at the MCG. Ajinkya Rahane terrifically led the side to level the series 1-1 after an infamous loss at the Adelaide Oval. This win will go down as one of the most memorable ones in the history of Indian Test cricket. Some of the crucial Indian players including the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami did not feature in the Indian XI.
However, Ajinkya Rahane’s men bounced back to end this year on a high note. Rahane not only scored a scintillating century during the first innings but also impressed all with his captaincy skills. He continued with his unbeaten record of three wins in three games as the skipper of the national side.
India’s regular skipper Virat Kohli, who flew back to India after the pink-ball Test also congratulated the side. With a special mention for Rahane, Kohli wished good luck to the side for the remaining fixtures.

“What a win this is, absolutely amazing effort by the whole team. Couldn’t be happier for the boys and specially Jinks who led the team to victory amazingly. Onwards and upwards from here,” Kohli tweeted.
An 8-wicket victory for team India
The Australian team ended day three’s play with a 2-run lead and six batsmen back in the pavilion. Youngster Cameron Green (45) showed some grit in the morning session of day four to give a target of 70 runs to the visiting side.
India suffered a few early scares as Mayank Agarwal (5) and Cheteshwar Pujara (3) got out in quick succession. However, debutant Shubman Gill and skipper Ajinkya Rahane took India home with their respective knocks of 35* and 27*.
The two sides will now lock horns at the New Year’s Test at the SCG from January 7 onwards.
