The iron-man of Indian Test Cricket, Cheteshwar Pujara spirit remains undeterred irrespective of the opposition and the venue. He truly justified his character yet again at the decider fourth Test match in Brisbane, where he received a barrage of bouncers, a couple of which did injure him.
On the Day 5 of the Brisbane’s Test where India lifted the Border-Gavaskar trophy, Pujara walked early after the opener Rohit Sharma was dismissed. Pujara supported young Shubman Gill well and together they wove a 114-run stand between them. Pujara later added a 61-run stand with the striker Rishabh Pant as well.
Pujara hit a half-century
In his 56 run innings comprising 211 balls, he battled a lineage of lethal bouncers bowled primarily by Pat Cummins and Josh Hazelwood. In fact, one of the delivers injured his knuckles quite severely.
However, the tall figure gave the thrust that the youngsters consolidated upon as India lifted the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21.
