India vs Australia: WATCH – Nathan Lyon loses his cool; aims a throw at Washington Sundar’s head
Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur

India seemed to be in a big spot of bother on Day 3 of the fourth Test against Australia when they lost 6 wickets having scored just 186 runs. However, Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur stuck together and scored half-centuries to take India to a good score, just 33 runs short of Australia’s first innings score. What was remarkable was that, Sundar was a debutant and Thakur was just one-Test old.

Both cricketers batted with élan and grace and didn’t look uncomfortable at the crease at all. The duo added 123 runs before losing their wickets and hit 16 fours and 3 sixes between them. The Aussie bowlers consisting of famed and feared bowlers had no clue when the two got going and the duo have every right to feel proud of their efforts.

An unsavory incident marred the partnership between Thakur and Sundar when a frustrated Nathan Lyon aimed a throw at the latter’s head in frustration. Receiving a badly timed straight drive, the 100-Test old spinner threw the ball high and in the air that fizzed past the young Indian spinner’s head. Lyon then merely stared at the batsman before going back to bowl.

Australia are currently on 21/0 in the second innings with a lead of 54 runs and with just two days to go and rain forecast for both days, the fourth Test might as well end as a draw leading to India retaining the Border-Gavaskar trophy.
