T Natarajan
It has been a dream run of T Natarajan as he went from an impressive Indian Premier League (IPL) season to donning the blue of India in the span of a month. Well known as the “Chinnappampatti Express“, the left-arm quick scalped three wickets on T20 debut against Australia. He followed it up with a couple of inspiring performances to round up a memorable tour Down Under. Natarajan finished with six wickets at an impressive economy of 6.91 in his debut series.
The left-arm quick dismissed, the dangerous Glenn Maxwell and D’Arcy Short twice in the series as he showcased his expertise in death bowling. Natarajan showed how a quick learner he is as he picked wickets with bumpers. And bowled excellent lengths adopting flawlessly to the match conditions.
From a net bowler to debuting in white ball series
Following his impressive performance, his Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner penned an appreciation post for Natarajan. Warner expressed his joy upon the speedster’s success. The southpaw missed the opportunity to face Natarajan owing to a groin strain which ruled him out of the white ball series.
“Win lose or draw we respect each other on and off the field. Despite losing the series I couldn’t not be any happier for this guy @natarajan_jayaprakash such a nice guy and just loves the game so much. From being on the tour as a net bowler to debuting ODI/T20I for India what an achievement buddy well done!!,” Warner wrote on Instagram.
Natarajan was first picked as a net bowler for the Australia tour. But Varun Chakravarthy‘s injury made way for him in the T20 squad. Yet another injury scare to Navdeep Saini prompted the team management to include him in the ODI side too. And the story kept getting better for Natarajan as he debuted in the final ODI. He put up an impressive performance on debut returning 2/70 from his 10 overs. This brilliant performance saw him debut in the T20Is and he rewarded the team’s faith in him handsomely.
